turbeh
A small mausoleum built over the grave of a high-ranking or holy Muslim, especially under the Ottomans.
“The guard locks the gates of the turbeh, letting the heavy sound of the lock fall into the dark interior, as though leaving the name of the key inside.”
Where it comes from
From Ottoman Turkish تربه (türbe), from Arabic تُرْبَة (turba, “tomb”). Doublet of turbah.
