Where it comes from
From New Latin sublūxātus (“subluxated”), perfect active participle of subluxare (“to subluxate”) (see -ate (verb-forming suffix)), from sub- (“under, below, lesser”) + lūxō (“to dislocate”). Equivalent to sub- + luxate.
