grundsow
A groundhog, a woodchuck.
rare
Remember me when far, far off where grundsows die of whooping cough.
1987, Sharon Sheehe Stark, A Wrestling Season, W. Morrow (publ.), page 38, 40.
Where it comes from
Borrowed from Pennsylvania German Grundsow/Grundsau (literally “ground sow”) which is itself a calque of English groundhog.
