A fictional energy weapon designed to destroy or capture ghosts.
A scaly hand grabbed Gloom's ecto-blaster and pulled it from its holster. A second ugly Ghoul examined the weapon closely.
Where it comes from
From ecto- + blaster, likely originally coined to describe the "proton packs" and "neutrona wands" in the movie Ghostbusters (1984).
