denotate
To mark off; to denote.
archaic
Thoſe termes of all and for ever in ſcripture, are not eternall, but onely denotate a longer time, which by many examples they prove.
Where it comes from
First attested in 1597; either borrowed from Latin dēnotātus, perfect passive participle dēnotō (“to mark, observe”) (see -ate (verb-forming suffix)) or a back-formation from denotation. Doublet of denote.
